Texas Pride Heating & Air’s Gingerbread Cookies

The lights are hung. The trees are being trimmed. And we are decking the halls. It’s Christmas time in Texas.

With the holiday decorating, comes holiday parties and holiday baking. ‘Tis the season after all! Texas Pride Heating & Air loves to share treats that most guests, young and old, will enjoy. One of our favorites is cookies. Shortbread Cookies are always a hit, and Everything Cookies have something for everyone.

This year, we’re involving the whole family in the kitchen. Our choice? Gingerbread Cookies. They’re perfect for little hands and big imaginations, and the classic Gingerbread flavor is sure to make for holiday memories for years to come.

**For Gingerbread Cookies, you will need:**

  • – 4 c. flour
  • – 1 c. brown sugar, packed
  • – 1 egg
  • – 3/4 c. butter, softened
  • – 3/4 c. molasses
  • – 2 tsp. ground ginger
  • – 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • – 1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • – 3/4 tsp. ground cloves
  • – 1/4 tsp. salt

**Instructions:**

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy.
  3. Mix in the egg and molasses.
  4. In a second bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and spices.
  5. Slowly combine the wet and dry ingredients into one bowl.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for one hour.
  7. Roll the chilled dough onto a floured surface to a 1/8 inch thickness.
  8. Cut the cookies out and place them on a lined baking sheet 1 inch apart.
  9. Bake for 10 minutes or until edges are crisp.
  10. Cool and decorate.

**Decoration Ideas:**

  • – Classic Gingerbread Man with white icing and red hot buttons.
  • – Christmas trees, stars, or even reindeer with little red noses.
